Best Kent Wedding Photography 2017 // Review Of The Year

So, here it is, my end of year review! The best bits of my wedding journey in 2017 and what a year it has been. I photographed an awesome 46 weddings, met some absolutely wonderful people and had a blast! Here is my compilation video, a mixed tape if you will, of my Best Kent wedding photography 2017. Enjoy!

The year started for me, not in my home county of Kent, but at The Tithe Barn in Hampshire for Claire and Dan’s big day back in February. This is one of the things I love about being a wedding snapper, although I’m based in Kent, I get to travel all around the UK and see some rather cool venues.

My year finished on the 23rd December 2017, with Lauren and Adrian’s big day at Winters Barns, a gorgeous venue near Canturbury in Kent.

In between I’ve laughed so hard I cried, danced like a buffoon, got tearful at some emotional speeches, melted on the hot days, froze on the cold and felt like a needed a boat on the odd few. Throughout I’ve met some of the nicest people you’re ever likely to meet and just had so much fun. To put it simply, it’s been a fantastic year!

Having been all around the south-east of the UK, I’ve seen everything from rural little country barns, to a wedding at St Pancras International in the heart of London.

My ethos at weddings is to capture the spirit of each day, the love, the laughter and definitely some face pulling.  I don’t pre-script what the wedding should look like before hand, I turn up and see what happens in front of me. I then document that into pictures. It could go from a pretty emotional ceremony to some pretty funky dance moves. I like to give each couple the feeling of re-living each wedding as if they were still there. From the compilation tape above, I think mission accomplished.

Now the techie bit, for all you camera enthusiasts: This year I have started working with two small FujiFilm camera’s and not the large ‘pro’ cameras you might expect. I have been using the Fujifilm X-Pro2 with a combination of lenses, that helps me get right into the heart of the wedding. I like to try and blend into the crowd and become more of a guest. This way I get so much more personality from the day, which in turn gives my images a much more natural look.

For me personally, It’s also been an very emotional year! Shortly after the first couple of weddings in February, my wife and I welcomed our gorgeous twins into the world. They really are beautiful little babies and even though they were very premature, they’re doing so well. Very little sleep goes on in the Hurley household at the moment, but it’s all worth it just to see their cheeky little smiles.
