Natalie and Chris’s Wotton House wedding was such a fantastic day, for such a lovely couple. Like a lot of other couples this year, Natalie and Chris have had to wait some time for their day to finally arrive, after numerous postponements. But once it did, these guys enjoyed a fabulous day with family and friends. Check it all out below.
First names: Natalie & Chris
Ages: 32, 33
Wedding date: 12th August 2021
Venue: Wotton House, Dorking, Surrey.
How did you guys meet, tell me all? We met in the famous Pitcher & Piano in Tunbridge Wells (of all places!!) Natalie was out for drinks with her best friend Lizzie and Chris was with his best friend Dave. It turned out that Dave is Lizzie’s brother in law and so they got chatting and introduced us.
How did you get engaged, is there a cool story? We were at home on Valentine’s Day in 2019. Chris had been to see Natalie’s parents in the day to let them know he was planning on proposing. We had a lovely meal and some champagne and Chris decided he couldn’t wait any longer so decided to propose that evening (in the kitchen!). We are a fairly low key kind of couple so it was perfect for us!
What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many? We probably had a list of 20 venues on the ‘shortlist’ and visited about 7, none of which we felt suited us for one reason or another. When we went to Wotton we had a completely different reaction. We walked into the Old Library and Natalie had tears in her eyes and we knew it was the venue for us. It was completely the opposite to what we had agreed we wanted but we were blown away.
What was the inspiration/theme of your wedding? We wanted quite traditional colours, nothing too bright, to pair nicely with the beautiful Old Library and Evelyn Suite. Once the colour of the flowers had been chosen everything else sort of fell into place.
What is your first song and why? Tom Walker, You and I. We have never really had a ‘song’ and so this took quite a long time to decide, partly because we were both pretty nervous about dancing in front of all our guests! The lyrics of this song are quite lighthearted and fun so we thought it would work well for a first dance that wouldn’t be too serious!
What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding? Our wedding planning probably hasn’t been the norm, having had to postpone twice due to the pandemic! Luckily all our suppliers have been amazing and so helpful. Number one tip would probably be to try and enjoy the process; it is easy to feel weighed down with all the decisions you need to make. Write out a list of everything you need to accomplish that day and tick off as you go. And don’t second guess things; once you have made a decision stick with it, otherwise you will be back and forth numerous times!
