Emily and Ed had a beautiful shabby chic Westerham Golf Club wedding, filled with jam jars, lavender and a ton of amazing flowers! This wedding was simply stunning! Set amongst the glorious grounds of Westerham Golf Club and with the sun shining, this really was a gorgeous day, for two amazing people.
First names: Ed & Emily
Ages: Both 28
Wedding date: Thursday 4th August
Venue: Westerham Golf Club
How did you guys meet, tell me all? We met at my (Ed’s) 21st birthday meal, a mutual friend of ours, Sarah, brought Emily along. The restaurant was in Orpington, I then got dropped home by Sarah and Emily was in the car! I asked to be put in touch with Emily through Sarah and a couple of days later we went on a first date! Apparently I stalked her on Facebook but I’m still not sure Facebook was invented then! I could be wrong! It was a long time ago now!
How did you get engaged, is there a cool story?
We found a ring in a jewellers in Margate which is where Emilys grandparents live – her grandad used to be a watch maker and jeweller so we were to trust his advice!
We found a ring, I purchased it, headed to the sea front and popped the question! She said yes! And it was safe to say the ring wasn’t coming off her finger even if she said no!
We then went for a lovely meal at chapter one – where we have been a few times and where Emily had previously thought I was going to propose, she thought I had planted the ring in a chocolate fondant and it was going to slide out as she cut in to the fondant!!! But it didn’t happen and the champagne came back out of the fridge at the parents houses as she had lead them all to believe this was going to happen!
What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many?
We were going to get married in Turkey however the holiday company went in to liquidation due to the current unrest out there.
So we found Westerham after viewing quite a few similar venues as it offered great vistas and a lovely woodland setting. It was recommended by Emilys dad who is a regular on the golf course.
What was the inspiration/theme of your wedding?
Sparkly Shabby chic with lavender !
What is your first song and why?
Our first song – sung by The 1975 and is a remake of the popular club hit by Chris malinchak (So good to me). It was sung in the live lounge on radio 1 and I heard it, loved it and played it to Emily. She also “Knew it was the one” when she heard it!
What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
Don’t plan one after having a baby then plan a christening and a wedding shortly after!
Thanks Ed! It was an honour to photograph your big day!
