Hazel and Jack enjoyed a gorgeous West Heath School wedding in Kent. From the elegant ceremony to the all-out party, this was such a great wedding day, surrounded by their closest friends and family. Check it all out below.
First names: Hazel and Jack
Ages: 31 & 38
Wedding date: 17/06/23
Venue: West Heath School
How did you guys meet, tell me all?
We met on Hinge, I was drawn to Jacks humour but our first date nearly didn’t happen!
I was slightly deterred by a picture of him with long dreadlocks in his younger years, and we both moved the date a couple of times..
Eventually we did meet at the Honor Oak pub in South London, I was a little hungover and Jack talked too much – but there was definitely something there.
How did you get engaged, is there a cool story?
Jack spent months planning the engagement and getting the ring made, working with a tiny jeweller called Vinny in South London.
My favourite film is Pretty Woman, so Jack got tickets to the stage show. I had sussed out the engagement was on the cards that day and was terrified he was going to get the cast involved.
We went on to drinks at The Savoy and he popped in the question at a table by the piano, all the staff were in on it and we were spoiled with champagne before going to eat loads of good tapas.
What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many?
We looked at two before West Heath, but West Heath was the one. Our nephew is a student here and this school has been life changing for him, so it is a very special place for our family. All the money they make from having weddings here goes back into the school, and of course it is a beautiful place!
Tell me about your dress? Who was it designed by and was there a particular style you were drawn too?
We planned our wedding in just a few months, so my dress is an off the shelf dress. It is very fitting that it is princessy as everyone laughs that I am saved as “Perfect Princess” in Jacks phone which is only partially ironic.. (he is ‘Hot Boy Hotline’ in mine).
What was the inspiration/theme/styling of your wedding?
To us a wedding is family event, we both have big families that we are close to, so a fun and relaxed vibe worked well with that. We wanted to work with the time of year, late Spring early summer, so greens and pinks in a natural, romantic way worked well for us. Our florist was great in helping source seasonal flowers for the bouquets and the venue dressing.
What is your first song and why?
You’ve Got The Love, only because Mr Boombastic was too hard to sway to 😉
We love the song, it’s joyous and uplifting whilst acknowledging the ups and downs life can bring – marriage is having someone to see you through.
What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
Lean into your strengths – Jack is creative, I am organised.
Be decisive – don’t agonise over the details.
