Jodie and George’s autumnal wedding at Wotton House in Surrey was gorgeous. Even with the pouring rain, these guys knew how to party! Check out their amazing day below.
First names: Jodie and George
Ages: 33 and 29
Wedding date: November 10th 2018
Venue: Wotton House, Dorking
How did you guys meet, tell me all? We both lived in the same student hall during first year at uni in Liverpool 2007. We spent that year as friends and didn’t end up going on our first date until the following December before we headed home for Christmas.
How did you get engaged, is there a cool story? We have a lot of love for the city of Liverpool! On this one visit we were attending our very good friend’s engagement party. We’d decided to stay up for the rest of the weekend and booked a hotel. After a couple of hours of George acting slightly strange and at one point thought I was being pushed out the window – I turned around there he was with the ring. We enjoyed champagne in the room while calling our family’s and headed out for dinner to the same restaurant we’d gone to on our first date and then friends joined us for more celebrations.
What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many?
We decided that it was important to have accommodation for friends/family who would be travelling down. We loved the feel of Wotton House straight away and it was a bonus it fitted into the ‘loose’ budget we’d had in mind.
What was the inspiration/theme of your wedding?
I’m more of an autumn/winter person and George was happy to go with the flow so once the date was set the greenery style fitted well. I also wanted it to have a bit of a modern feel with my dress, Georges tux and the bridesmaids dresses.
What is your first song and why?
Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell – You’re all I need to get by. For George this is the only part of the day he’s not looking forward to! We decided on this song as it’s only slow for the beginning and then hopefully people will join in.
What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
Try and get as many of the small bits done early or at least make the decisions. It’s probably all the smaller parts of the day that kept me up at night in the last few weeks.
