Jo and James had a fabulous wedding at The Oak Barn on Frame Farm in the heart of the Kent countryside. With the June sun shining down this was such a great wedding day, surrounded by their closest friends and family. Check it all out below.
First names: James and Jo
Ages: Both 35
Wedding date: 09/07/2022
Venue: The Oak Barn, Benenden
How did you guys meet, tell me all?
On Tinder. We had both had a series of nightmare first dates, and we had given up hope to be honest, but this obviously worked out!
How did you get engaged, is there a cool story?
We went to the New Forest for a few days away. I had planned for a section of the restaurant in the hotel in which we were staying, to be blocked off for me propose. We had A LOT of cocktails before the dinner which was great, but after posing the question Jo was too overwhelmed to eat, so she proceeded to get very drunk. Great day, but it ended with her head down the toilet 🙂
What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many?
We looked at 3 venues, and this one blew the other two out of the water. It’s a beautiful venue, it has accommodation on-site for groomsmen and bridesmaids, it has separate buildings which I think is important, and the team that run the venue were brilliant, helpful and lovely.
Tell me about your dress? Who was it designed by and was there a particular style you were drawn too?
No specific style – I looked at a number of dressed, and I found one that I liked.
What was the inspiration/theme/styling of your wedding?
There isn’t a specific theme or style, but we want people to be comfortable given that it’s an early July wedding. We want to be informal and fun, as opposed to formal and everyone dressed up to the nines.
What is your first song and why?
Chris Stapleton, Tennessee Whiskey. We bonded over a love of getting drunk, so seemed fitting, plus James loves a whiskey!
What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
Share the load, and do as much stuff as early in the process as possible. We got our venue, caterer, photographer and videographer locked in early, and it really helped to take some pressure off.
