Lucy and Justin had such a beautiful wedding at The Gardens in Yalding, surrounded by their family and friends. Out of all the things I’ll remember this wedding for, which includes just how lovely Lucy and Justin are, the speeches will go down in history for me as some of the best I’ve seen. I couldn’t stop laughing! Check out this amazing day below.

How did you guys meet, tell me all? We have both grown up in the same village, and both went to the same secondary school. Although we did not know each other during school, mutual friends brought us together. We went on our first date in November 2012, to Pizza Hut, and from there onwards we have spent nearly 10 short years together.
How did you get engaged, is there a cool story? Initially, the engagement was planned to happen in Scotland, however, as everyone knows, covid happened, and Justin decided to propose on a walk in the countryside. He found the perfect spot, at a lake with a bridge going over it, and ducks floating within it, and got down on one knee, proposing to Lucy there and then, surrounded by fields in our hiking boots.
What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many? As we got engaged during lockdown, most of our searching happened online. The Gardens was one that we came across first, and this was the only one we went to view. We didn’t need to view any more after that. The grounds sold it for us, along with the tipi.
Tell me about your dress? Who was it designed by and was there a particular style you were drawn too? I was drawn to a Philippa Lepley dress in London which I went to try on and I was put into a different style of dress to just try on and it was perfect! I kept searching more local to me to find a similar dress and I found the one in a bridal boutique in Yalding! I’ve gone very simple, but the secret pockets were something that sold it for me!
What was the inspiration/theme/styling of your wedding? We have decided on a rustic and spring theme as the gardens already holds this so it has been really easy going for us in regards to styling and we will be having lots of festoon lights which we love!
What is your first song and why? Our first song is by Plan B – Love goes down. We chose this because when thinking of what we wanted for our first song we thought it should be something that means a lot to us rather than something traditional for a first dance. Plan B and this album is the only artist we mutually shared before we met and this just felt right.
What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding? When we got engaged we created a spreadsheet (very organized!) to help us work out what we needed to book and save for. It has been a life saver, reminding us of important dates and helping us to keep on top of things. Also just to enjoy every minute!
