Becka and Jon had an amazing wedding at St Pancras Station in London. The ceremony was held on the platform by the Sir John Betjeman statue overlooking Eurostar trains all ready for their next trip to Europe. Feelings of old romantic 1940 films were conjured as Becka walked down the aisle under the magnificent St Pancras roof. After drinks at the Champagne bar, guests were treated to some fine food at Searcys where the party got into full swing! Check out this awesome wedding below!
First names: Jon and Becka
Ages: 38 and 30
Wedding date: 5th August 2017
Venue: St Pancras International Station, London
How did you guys meet, tell me all?
It was a classic blind date! Mutual friends set us up, with our first date starting at the BFI bar on the South Bank and carrying on to the OXO Tower. We got on right away, discussing all sorts of things – so much so that we were the last to leave the restaraunt that night! The rest, as they say, is history!
How did you get engaged, is there a cool story?
We were on holiday for Becka’s 30th at Lake Bled in Slovenia. We were walking around the lake and decided on a swim, when Jon popped the question – not by the lake, but in it! The engagement ring wasn’t quite ready, so Jon proposed with a piece of string. Very romantic and straight out of ‘The Count of Monte Cristo.’ That evening we had a wonderful meal at Bled Castle.
What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many?
St Pancras Station was one of the first places to spring to mind after we got engaged – we investigated a few other venues where we live in Stoke Newington, but none impressed us quite as much as St Pancras. It struck us as a romantic and relatively easy venue – we could do everything under one (very impressive) roof, and to top it all it came with a formidable events planner – Iwona – who was so enthusiastic about everything she sealed the deal for us.
What was the inspiration/theme of your wedding?
We’ve gone for a relatively classic look because of the venue. Nothing overly fancy or trendy, with a few pops of summer colour here and there to keep things interesting!
What is your first song and why?
‘How Long Will I Love You’ by Jon Boden – the version used in the movie ‘About Time,’ where an American girl gets together with a British guy….you get the picture.
What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
It’ll all be alright in the end! Nothing you stress over in the run-up will actually turn out to be as big a deal as you make it.
