Autumnal wedding at South Farm // Jenny and John

Autumnal wedding at South FarmThis gorgeous wedding at South Farm near Royston, on the boarders of Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire had a very Autumnal feel throughout. Being a late October wedding, we were blessed with storm Brian, that certainly threw some damp and windy conditions at us. But this didn’t stop Jenny and John having a beautiful wedding day surrounded by fantastic friends and family. Check out their day below.

First names: Jenny & John
Ages: Both 27
Wedding date: Saturday 21st October 2017
Venue: South Farm, Royston

How did you guys meet, tell me all?
We met when we were 16 working in our first jobs at Millie’s Cookies. John started working there first, and when the manager asked him to choose between two CVs to be the new recruit, John chose mine. We became friends, ended up at the same uni, and eventually got together on a uni bar crawl 5 years later!

How did you get engaged, is there a cool story?
We got engaged in Las Vegas. We planned the holiday together, but John secretly booked a private balcony on top of the Stratosphere Hotel with an amazing view of the city, where he popped the question. We nearly missed the booking as I got distracted while getting ready for the evening watching some terrible true crime TV programme, and couldn’t understand why John was rushing me so much! I don’t think it helped his nerves.

What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many?
I’m a corporate event manager, so I knew I wanted something different to the hotels and venues that I use all the time for work events. We looked at 6 venues, all barns, and although South Farm was the final venue that we visited, we both felt like we knew all along that it would be the one. We loved the countryside setting, the fact that is has piglets. It was very “us”.

What was the inspiration/theme of your wedding?

There was no real theme, just lots of personal touches. We wanted a fun day with our favorite people, good food and music.

What is your first song and why?
I’ll Be by Edwin McCain. We both liked the lyrics, and that it’s not as well known as a lot of first dance songs.

What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
John: Make sure you marry an Event Manager!
