This wedding at Ruffynes Barn is a template all weddings should go by. Even with rain falling, this has to be one of all my all-time favorite weddings. Not only did Faye and John not stop smiling all day, but guests turned up, got very merry and had a hell of a party! From the cool rustic barn wedding ceremony to the awesome rocking party in the evening, this was a wedding to remember. I went home wishing I could have stayed a little longer. How did you guys meet, tell me all?
We met in a nightclub on Christmas eve– it’s not much of a romantic story! We then discovered we lived about a 2 minute walk from each other and the rest is history.
How did you get engaged, is there a cool story?
We had been together coming up for 5 years and planned a “trip of a lifetime” driving the west coast of the US. We were three days into the trip and had just boarded a boat in San Francisco when John proposed. There was lots of champagne and a beautiful sunset.
What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many?
We knew we wanted an old rustic barn and Ruffynes Barn was the second venue we saw. We liked the fact they only do 10 weddings a year and let you do exactly what you want. There’s no pressure to use certain suppliers and no hidden charges, such as corkage.
What was the inspiration/theme of your wedding?
We don’t really have a theme but there was a couple of things we knew we wanted to include – the first being John’s prized VW beetle and the second being our little Pug – both are attending the day.
What is your first song and why?
First day of my life by Bright Eyes. A song that reminds us of when we first met.
What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
If you can afford to, book your honeymoon for straight after the wedding. You will be really craving a break after all the wedding planning and chaos!
