Tracy and Sam were married at the gorgeous Cooling Castle Barn in Kent. This Autumnal wedding, with beautiful sunshine throughout the day and the cold November night, was just perfect. How did you guys meet, tell me all?
We met on a night out and we were introduced by a mutual friend of ours. We arranged a first date the week after we met and the rest is history
How did you get engaged, is there a cool story?
I arranged to take Tracy out for dinner on her birthday at one of our favourite restaurants. We have a little girl, who was just under one at the time so a night out was a rarity and taking Tracy away was completely out of the question. Tracy has a knack of finding out what her presents are so it was very difficult for me to keep the engagement proposal a surprise from her. When I proposed, I could tell that she had no idea, so for me this was a major achievement.
Prior to proposing I decided to do this the ‘proper way’ and arranged to meet with Tracy’s Dad to ask his permission to propose. He was very happy to be getting rid of Tracy and told me “Good luck mate, you’re gonna need it!” Just kidding – he was very happy for us though.
What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many?
The weekend after I proposed, we arranged to go to a wedding fair at Cooling Castle – We fell in love with it that straight away and booked our wedding date that day.
What was the inspiration/theme of your wedding?
The rustic feel of the barn at Cooling Castle was definitely the inspiration for theme.
What is your first song and why?
We have chosen At Last by Etta James because it took me so long to propose.
What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
Make sure your venue comes equipped with a good online wedding planner – we found this invaluable.
