Hedingham Castle Wedding Venue

Hedingham Castle Wedding With Jade And AndrewHedingham Castle Wedding With Jade And Andrew

Hedingham Castle, Essex is, without a doubt, one of the most romantic wedding venues in England.  The 900-year-old Norman keep, the stately grandeur of the Georgian House and the landscaped beauty of the gardens, all enclosed within the privacy of the tree-lined grounds of the estate, create a magical haven where romance becomes real.

We are delighted to announce that Hedingham Castle has won the Hudson’s Heritage Best Wedding Venue award for 2017! And not only that…we also won Best Loos!

Ceremonies

Ceremonies are held within the candlelit majesty of the Banqueting Hall beneath a Norman arch the like of which can not be found, outside the Great Cathedrals, anywhere in Northern Europe. Here, where Kings and Queens once sat in state, there is room for one hundred guests, with thirty more looking down from the Minstrels’ Gallery.

Marquee Receptions

After the ceremony, the newly married couple lead their guests over the Tudor Bridge to the Mansion House, where drinks are served in the Great Hall overlooking the formal gardens and the ornamental lake. In the summer guests will enjoy the cooling fountain on the lawn, in winter a huge log fire complements the stately atmosphere of the English Country House.

From the Hall, guests progress into the Tulip Lawn Marquee, outside which the magnificent Tulip Tree, one of only three in England, creates the perfect backdrop to any decorative theme. The immaculately furnished Marquee, with concealed dance floor and bar, can seat 160 guests with ease and provides the perfect setting for the wedding breakfast. Carriages at midnight.

A moonlit stroll down the floodlit, tree-lined drive to The Garden Cottage in its own orchard, awaits the newly married couple for their first night together as husband and wife.

Castle Receptions

After extensive and sensitive restoration work throughout the Keep, it will be possible, from February 2016, to hold your reception here as an alternative to the traditional beauty of the Marquee.

From the Ceremony in the Banqueting Hall guests descend one floor for their drinks reception, which can spill out onto the lawns of the inner bailey or take advantage of the gallery over the ancient flint walls, and thence to the magnificence of the Tapestry Floor for the wedding breakfast, followed by dancing through the evening, a magical day in a unique setting.
