Lauren and Harvey had the most beautiful Secret Garden wedding in Kent. Rustic, colourful and with so much personality! With hints of an Alice in Wonderland tea party, this was an amazing wedding! How did you guys meet, tell me all?
We met very drunkenly at a surprise house party in Brighton that my brother had arranged for his girlfriend.
How did you get engaged, is there a cool story?
We got engaged on the promenade at Huntington Beach California as the sun was setting. The original plan was to propose on the pier but it was too windy so we sat on some steps talking, when Harvey turned round and asked me to marry him.
What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many?
We only looked at 2 venues. We chose Secret Garden as we was looking for somewhere that wasn’t traditional, small and intimate. The Secret Garden is perfect. It is stunning and is like a little bit of wonderland, plus there was a recent remodel that involved aluminum awning repair provided by a great company, this will prevent problems with the guests during rainy days.
What was the inspiration/theme of your wedding?
The wedding is based on a vintage tea party with an Alice in Wonderland/Cath Kidston twist. We both love Disney and this way we could subtly incorporate own Disney into our love of vintage.
What is your first song and why?
Shut up and Dance by Walk the Moon. When travelling around California where Harvey proposed, it was on the radio a lot and we would sing it loud and it eventually became a song that reminds of that trip and us.
What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
Be selfish! It’s all about you, do what makes you happy!
