The Gardens in Yalding Wedding // Charlotte and Adam

Charlotte and Adam’s beautiful wedding at The Gardens in Yalding. Complete with a stunning Tipi, gorgeous gardens and lots of rain! This incredibly cool couple had such a fun day and it was a real pleasure sharing it with them. Check out their story below.

First names: Adam and Charlotte
Ages: 31 and 31 (we were born 5 days apart)
Wedding date: Saturday 29th July
Venue: The Gardens, Yalding

How did you guys meet, tell me all?
Where do we start?! Adam joined my class in Year 4 at Primary School. Being a sporty boy and a girly girl we weren’t friends at this point. We both went off to secondary school, university and into adult life, with our paths barely crossing – until I started working behind the bar at my brother’s cricket club. Adam also played cricket there and it was one evening function when we recognised one another. On our first date we chatted about our past connection and discovered the fact we had lived in the same road all along. Five years later, we’re excited for our big day!

How did you get engaged, is there a cool story?
Adam was secretly planning for months and my parents knew way before I did, afterwards I found out that my Mum was in on it. I met Adam after work at London Bridge Station…as per usual I was late! We then walked to the Sky Garden where Adam had planned to ask me on the balcony facing The Shard. But it was shut! He then tried to entice me to the bar when I awkwardly refused so we could take our table in the restaurant. He waited until the very end of our meal to get down on one knee and when he did the ring box fell out of his pocket and flew across the floor. Both shaking the whole restaurant cheered and clapped and champagne was brought over. A moment we will never forget (I’m pleased it didn’t go to plan).

What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many?
We researched extensively but only visited a few. We knew The Gardens was ‘the one’ straight away. It’s beautiful, quirky and allowed us the freedom we wanted on the day. We fell in love with it a little more every time we visited.

What was the inspiration/theme of your wedding?
The venue inspired a lot of our choices so I’d say country with a splash of vintage if we were to give the wedding a theme. Ohh and we love colour! Most importantly we just wanted everyone to have a great time.

What is your first song and why?
Latch (acoustic) by Sam Smith. The Disclosure version was always playing on the radio when we first started dating and became ‘our song’ very quickly.

What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
Try not to over think things and remember it is your day, so listen to the suggestions of others but the final decisions are yours. Enjoy every minute. The time just flies by!

This very cool and beautiful wedding had us all scanning the weather apps but as much as we hoped for a sunny day, the rain came. But did it stop these guys having an awesome wedding? Hell no! In fact, I would say the rain added to an already amazing day, with a couple who just didn’t stop smiling throughout. I can say as a photographer, kudos to these two, they got out, got wet and had a real laugh capturing some pictures. Much love to an amazing couple!
