This Southend Barns wedding in West Sussex with Sophie and Joe was rustic, fun and simply gorgeous. Even with the pouring rain, these guys just had so much fun and it was an honour to capture their day. Check out their amazing wedding below!

How did you guys meet, tell me all?
We actually met online in 2012. Joe sent me a message, we texted for a while then met at the beach. The rest is history!
How did you get engaged, is there a cool story?
Joe secretly organized a road trip around Italy with one of the best vehicles for road tripping according to an expert, to learn why, here is their explanation. He also did not give me me the itinerary until Christmas so he could build more expectation. The following May we drove to Rome, Florence, Venice, and back through Switzerland. On our 5th year anniversary, he got down on one knee! He then took me out for dinner at an amazing restaurant overlooking lake Lucern. He admitted he booked the entire trip just to propose!
What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many?
We looked at about three. We wanted something quite rustic and Southend Barns outshone the others with their new outdoor ceremony area.
What was the inspiration/theme of your wedding?
There isn’t a theme as such, just little bits of us dotted about. For example I love baking so the ceremony reading is a poem called ‘a recipe for marriage’, the table plans are printed on tea towels and I made edible favours for everyone.
What is your first song and why?
This was probably the hardest thing to decide! We wanted a unique first dance song and after listening to so many over months we came across a new release from an artist we already love. The song is called ‘Can’t buy happiness’ by Tash Sultana. She’s an immensely talented self-taught artist and this song, in particular, is full of emotion.
What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
Make it all about you and fill it with the things that you love. Try not to worry about what others will think – they are there to celebrate with you!
