How did you guys meet, tell me all?
I (Katey) used to work in a bar called O’Gradys and Steve was one of the regulars. He always would come straight to me to get served. One day I got a friend request from Steve on Facebook and he messaged me, but i just wasn’t ready for anything more although I did fancy him. A few years went by, and I decided to message Steve one day and we got chatting and the rest is history.
How did you get engaged, is there a cool story?
We went on holiday to Ibiza and one day Steve said to me, Kate can we have a walk down to this restaurant which was on the beach to see if we can get a table for tonight. At the time, all I wanted to do was lay in the sun and chill out. We went for a walk along the beach to find this restaurant and then all of a sudden he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I just burst into tears and squeezed him and of course said yes!
What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many?
We always loved the thought of getting married abroad, however with covid we just thought it would be better to stay in the UK. I always loved the thought of having a barn/rustic sort of wedding. I googled some venues and we fell in love with Winters barns, so we contacted them for a viewing and as soon as I see it – I just knew. Steve took one look at me and knew too. We decided to go and have a look at a few others but nothing came close
Tell me about your dress? Who was it designed by and was there a particular style you were drawn too?
I always loved looking at plain sort of dresses, with not much detail on it. So I saved a few images and when me, my mum and my brother went dress shopping I picked a few that I liked but I wasn’t loving any of them. Then my brother said why don’t you try this one and I did and it was the one. We all just stood there and cried.
What was the inspiration/theme/styling of your wedding?
I loved the thought of having a rustic/barn type of wedding so that was the aim. Very relaxed and just want everyone to enjoy the day.
What is your first song and why?
John Legend – So High. When me and Steve first met we used to go on little weekends away and we would always listen to this song and say this would be our first dance song.
What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
Try and be super organised so you don’t stress out. Do what makes you happy and don’t worry about what others will think.
