This Rangers House wedding with Nicole and Chris was simply perfect. Relaxed, intimate and a jolly good knees up. After the elegant ceremony at the gorgeous Ranger’s House in Greenwich, Nicole and Chris moved to Chapters in Blackheath then onto the Greenwich Tavern pub.
First names: Nicole and Chris
Ages: 32 and 31
Wedding date: Saturday, 8th April, 2017
Venue: Ranger’s House, Blackheath
How did you guys meet, tell me all? We met on a random night out in Rochester, Kent. Chris and I started to chat a bit on our way out of a bar and after confusing my Canadian accent for an American one, we hit it off. A great organic way to meet on an evening when neither of us were actually meant to head out with friends.
How did you get engaged, is there a cool story? I usually go home to Canada for the holidays and a couple of years ago, when we were saving for a flat, I opted to stay with him and spend a holiday here where I live, to see what Christmas was like in London. We had discussed marriage, but he had reminded me several times that a proposal wasn’t imminent due to flat hunting. We had reservations for a lovely meal in Blackheath and as I came down the stairs, he was in the lounge, very casual and a ring box was open on the coffee table. We don’t get many surprises in life, so this was one for the books!
What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many? We only looked at local venues and wanted a small, intimate ceremony with our immediate families and closest friends. The Ranger’s House is perfect.
What was the inspiration/theme of your wedding? We didn’t really have a theme, as such, but went for something elegant during our ceremony, intimate with our dinner and then full on fun where we end up at the pub we have hired out for the night!
What is your first song and why? We actually don’t have a first song. This is quite a sidestep from anything traditional. No first dance. No father-daughter dance. No cutting of the cake and no bouquet toss. Just a great old party to celebrate with all of our friends and family.
What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding? Make a list. Then make another one and keep checking back through what you still have to do as often as possible! I would also advise check with other friends who have been married recently as they are wonderful sources of ideas and top tips!
