Paige and Charlie’s Podere La Specola wedding in Tuscany, Italy, was just beautiful. Nestled in the heart of the Tuscan valleys just south of Florence, surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, the enchanting Podere La Specola made the perfect backdrop for Paige and Charlie’s gorgeous Italian wedding. With the warm Tuscan sun as their spotlight, these guys embraced a day bursting at the seams with local cuisine, refreshing drinks and the best company.

How did you guys meet, tell me all?
Charlie and I both played hockey at the University of St. Thomas. He played for the men’s team and I played for the women’s. We met each other right away during my freshman year and were friends/acquaintances. He moved to a nearby school and we saw each other sporadically at the local college bar. It wasn’t until a couple of years after school when Charlie had moved back from his time in Germany and Australia that we got to talking on Instagram and got together for a drink to catch up. And we never looked back after that first night over an old-fashioned beer.
How did you get engaged, is there a cool story?
Charlie and I were in Geneva, Switzerland exploring for the weekend. It was Friday night Nov 18th, 2022 and we were walking around the Christmas markets after dinner. He pulled me over on the outskirts of the market and he asked me to set up my tripod to take a picture of us. I knew something was fishy because he never wanted to take pictures. And sure enough, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many?
We looked at SO many venues. I probably talked to 60+ places. We really wanted one that was all-inclusive, we could have a majority of the guests at, and just really enjoy being in Italy. This venue was in a perfect location for our wedding in Tuscany and we loved that it was an intimate setting and they hadn’t done a bunch of weddings before.
Plus the wedding planner with the venue was amazing right away and when we met the family who owns the villa, we fell even more in love!
Tell me about your dress? Who was it designed by and was there a particular style you were drawn to?
I knew what I wanted in a dress and even sketched it out. I wanted a tiered tulle dress in a neutral color with a corset-style top. I pictured more of a beige color but when I tried on this dress I just knew it was it. It was romantic and different.
What was the inspiration/theme/styling of your wedding?
We really wanted our wedding theme to just reflect the beautiful location of Italy, relaxed, neutral, simple, and most of all romantic
What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
Just remember the purpose of the wedding in the first place is to celebrate the joining of you and your partner – everything else should come second to that.
