Megan and Will enjoyed a fabulous autumnal October wedding at Winters Barns. With the sun shining and surrounded by their closest friends and family, these guys had a wedding day to remember. Check it all out below.

How did you guys meet, tell me all?
Through blackberry messenger when we were at school – spoke over the years and eventually met up when we were 16! He tripped me up on purpose to give me a kiss when we first met.
How did you get engaged, is there a cool story?
At a family BBQ at Megan’s parents for her mum’s birthday. Will had the ring since December and was going to propose in the summer when we were on holiday but Megan kept saying it would happen so Will decided to surprise her at a family BBQ with the help of his mum dropping the ring off under the guise of a birthday card for Megan’s Mum. Megan’s mum almost spoilt the surprise by going out to wills mum’s car, but they managed to hide the ring. Later in the day, the inevitable jokes about us getting engaged started, so Will stood up and said “You won’t want this then” and proposed!
What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many?
We looked at 5 venues but felt most emotional looking around Winter’s, nothing else quite lived up to it. We could immediately see our families in the space and it worked for the sort of day we wanted.
Tell me about your dress? Who was it designed by and was there a particular style you were drawn too?
My dress is an Essense of Australia gown which was a designer I have loved for years via my obsession for Say Yes to the Dress. Its quite a hard designer to get hold of in the UK but just after we got engaged a bridal boutique opened in Canterbury where I work and I noticed they were stocking the gowns, it all just felt like it was meant to be!
I definitely knew I wanted a more boho, A-line dress and it was actually the bridal consultant who pulled the dress I settled on. It perfectly hit on the venue, the season, the style – everything. I had cried in a couple of dresses but once I had this one on I knew I didn’t want to keep looking.
What was the inspiration/theme/styling of your wedding?
Didn’t want a theme – we felt traditional would be the best. We are quite simple in how we like to decorate etc as a couple and think that’s reflected in the more rustic wedding. For us it was about centering our family and us.
What is your first song and why?
People like us by The Shires. The album the song comes from was released during lockdown and Megan is a big fan of the band, when that song came on the lyrics reminded us of our relationship and how we approach life.
What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
Will – “Don’t do it, it’s a lot of money!” In all seriousness, for men go to a proper tailor and get the full experience as it was well worth it and especially sharing that with my Dad and Brother.
Megan – You can never book things too early, be really clear on what you want from the day and commit. Don’t be drawn into what other people have done, what you see on Instagram – make sure the day reflects YOU as a couple.
