October Wedding at East Quay Venue // Kiera and Michael

Kiera and Michael’s October wedding at East Quay Venue in Whitstable was full of fun, laughter and lots of funky dancing. This was one hell of a party! With the rain staying away and the sun making an appearance, these guys enjoyed a gorgeous beachside wedding, within this very cool venue. Check it all out here.

First names: Kiera and Mike
Ages: Both 29
Wedding date: 18.10.19
Venue: East Quay Venue

How did you guys meet, tell me all?
One swipe right, a date that turned into 3 dates in 4 days and here we are.

How did you get engaged, is there a cool story?
Kiera: It was a complete and utter shock for me. As far as I was aware we were going for a walk with some friends and then on to the pub. It was back in March 2018 when the snow caused huge disruption (including to Mike’s proposal plans). Unbeknownst to me, I chased after dog and human foot prints in the snow thinking they belonged to our friends. Only to be stopped by Mike down on one knee.

Mike: March 2018, heavy snow and one very confused guy whose proposal plans had been scarpered. I pulled together a very rough plan for us to meet friends for a dog walk – fairly common for us. They played along and the rouse was in motion. I led Kiera down a path to a valley walk where she had never been and before I knew it, she was chasing footprints of what she thought were our friends and their dog (which loves to play with best dog lick mat all the time). It wasn’t. They weren’t coming and never had been. In the middle of a snowy valley (aptly named ‘Happy Valley’) I got on one knee and that was that. We then did meet our friends at the pub and a pint has never tasted sweeter.

What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many?
East Quay was the first and only venue that we looked at. We knew we wanted a relaxed feel to our day and wanted a setting that took little work to look beautiful and EQV ticked the boxes.

What is your first song and why?
‘Sunday’ by Foals. We absolutely love Foals. It turns out that we were both at the same Foals gig about two months before we met and we’ve seen them together 3 times now. The lyrics ring home for us about friendship and having a great time! Plus it gets everyone up and dancing!

What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
Take a chilled-out approach for definite. I totally understand everyone is different and we have always been a couple who are more excited about the prospect of marriage over a wedding. The wedding for us has always been about celebrating in a space with all our favourite people around us. And that in itself made the planning process simple – food, drink and a dancefloor… what more could we need!
(p.s. we sorted the big stuff out early and it saved headaches down the line!)
