Nettlestead Place Wedding // Natalie and Tim

Nettlestead Place wedding

Natalie and Tim had a very relaxed wedding, at the gorgeous Nettlestead Place in Kent, surrounded by their closest family and friends. With 10 acres of natural beauty, this beautiful house with roots to the 11th century, helped create an amazing wedding day. From the ceremony in the Crypt to the funky dancing in the evening, check out this Nettlestead Place wedding below.

First names: Natalie Friend & Tim Williams
Ages: 37 and 35
Wedding date: 27th May 2017
Venue: Nettlestead Place, Nr Wateringbury, Kent

How did you guys meet, tell me all?
We went internet shopping!

How did you get engaged, is there a cool story?
Well, yes there is quite an interesting story! We were in Dublin as Tim was competing in his first ever Ironman 70.3 triathlon. He’d just completed his race in the pretty impressive time of 5 hrs 30 mins and then decided to propose! He was planning to carry the ring with him the whole way round the course but I’m kind of glad he didn’t as he had to swim in the Irish Sea. So we chose a ring afterwards instead!

I wasn’t entirely sure what he’d said when he first asked me. He was pretty tired after the race and so it was all a bit of a blur!

What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many?
We only looked at Nettlestead Place because we were both convinced it would be perfect. We’d spotted the house when we were walking along the Medway River path and thought it looked amazing. We looked it up when we got back home and saw they did weddings there. The rest is history!
We’re both from Maidstone so we wanted somewhere quintessentially Kentish with beautiful gardens. Nettlestead Place fitted this bill perfectly.

What was the inspiration/theme of your wedding?
We don’t have a specific theme but if anything, we’d probably say we wanted a Kentish wedding which shows off all that is fab about the beautiful area in which we live. We have lovely local flowers, local food and, of course, a beautiful Kentish venue.

What is your first song and why?
We chose Billy Joel, Just the Way You Are. The lyrics are beautiful and Natalie’s sister had this at her wedding so there’s a nice family connection.

What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
Enjoy the planning! We’re pretty sure the day will fly by so we’ve tried to enjoy organizing everything as much as possible. Everyone has said how relaxed we’ve been about the lead up to the wedding so hopefully this will put everyone at ease at the wedding and ensure they enjoy the day too.
A wedding should be a celebration of your relationship and your future together. It’s very easy to lose sight of this when there is so much to organise but we’ve enjoyed the planning and we intend to enjoy every minute of our day together.
