Laura and Sham’s amazing Mulberry House wedding was everything you would expect from two people with such flair and flamboyancy. A mixture of red hair, white trousers and enough bow ties to sink a battleship. This was such a funky wedding.

How did you guys meet, tell me all? We met online, Sham was on holiday in America with his mates at the time and I came across a profile picture that caught my attention. He could see that I had viewed his profile but hadn’t requested to talk to him so he dropped me a line and asked why I hadn’t. After a couple of weeks of talking, we arranged to meet under the lion on Westminster bridge when he came back, we went for a beer or two on the South Bank and the rest is history.
How did you get engaged, is there a cool story? We went to visit my sister in Perth, Australia at Christmas in December 2015. Sham had already asked my Dad for his permission and told everyone we know that he intended on proposing while we were away. Surprisingly no-one slipped and suggested anything of the sort, so when we all took a trip along the Swan River in the beautiful sunshine towards a winery I was none the wiser. Sham was drinking a little more than usual which caught my attention, which now knowing, was obviously through nerves. He suggested we took a walk around the vineyards alone where he dropped down to one knee and asked me to marry him. My reaction was to say “shut up” in my best Essex accent and tell him to get up off the floor out of embarrassment due people walking in our direction, but I accepted without any delay and threw my arms around him.
What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many? We looked at a handful of venues in all shapes and sizes but Mulberry House is a very pretty and quiet venue, not too big but big enough to accommodate our friends and family. It also offers exclusive access so we are safe in the knowledge that only our wedding is a priority on that day.
What was the inspiration/theme of your wedding? We have chosen a multitude of spring colours to bring a bit of life through the theme and have picked a vintage set up in number areas. We wanted something that stood and out but remained pretty at the same time.
What is your first song and why? Shut up and dance with me, by Walk the Moon. We didn’t want a slow lingering dance where everyone is staring at us so have gone for something upbeat that everyone can enjoy and represents our fun outlook on life.
What would be your number one tip for other couples planning their wedding?
Stay chilled and get organised early!!! There is no point worrying about the little things, just enjoy it!
