First names: Ellie and Duncan
Ages: 32 and 37
Wedding date: 28 October 2023
Venue: Old Marylebone Town Hall and The Greenhouses.

How did you guys meet, tell me all?

We worked together at our previous law firm but hadn’t spoken for around 4 years. Duncan then contacted me out of the blue in May 2021 as he was offered a job at my new firm. We went for a work lunch so I could give him the real scoop on what the firm is like, and the rest is history…

How did you get engaged, is there a cool story?

Duncan proposed outside the restaurant that we went to for that first lunch. It’s a steak restaurant, and he failed to tell me that he was a pescatarian at the time!

What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many?

We wanted a small, intimate wedding in London and we loved the OMTH architecture. The reception venue, The Greenhouses, used to be a public restaurant called Chameleon, which we went to on one of our first dates. It’s a really special place for us.

Tell me about your dress? Who was it designed by and was there a particular style you were drawn to?

I have two outfits for the wedding – a Zara suit for the ceremony and a white dress for the reception. I knew I didn’t want a classic traditional princess dress given it’s for the evening event, so it’s a little more risqué and fun!

What was the inspiration/theme/styling of your wedding?

I am a huge Sex and the City fan, and loved the idea of a small, intimate, city wedding. Autumn is our favourite season, so a lot of the flower colours are Autumn inspired. And we wanted a touch of luxe/Great Gatsby with Duncan wearing a tux, the champagne tower etc.

What is your first song and why?

A Sky Full of Stars by Coldplay. We wanted something a little ‘different’ to your usual first dance love song. It’s a song we’ve listened to on countless car journeys together, and we love the lyrics  – You’re a sky full of stars, that lights up the path’. That’s what we are to each other (cheesy but true!)

What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?

Try to enjoy the process – you’re only going to do this once. And remember it’s all about the two of you and your love. Nothing else matters.
