KAT & STEVE

JIMMY’S FARM WEDDING

SUFFOLK, ENGLAND

Recently I had the pleasure of capturing Kat and Steve’s beautiful Jimmy’s Farm wedding in Suffolk. From the stunning old Barns to the all-out party, this was such a fabulous day. Jimmy’s Farm is such a unique Suffolk wedding venue and is the perfect location to tie the knot! It is actually a fully functional old-fashioned working farm. This means that the bride and groom as well as their wedding guests had full access to Jimmy’s Farm animals. So guests got to have fun visiting the animals and both Kat and Steven enjoyed some time in with the Limas. Such a great day. Check it all out below.

First names: Kat and Steve
Ages: 31 and 34
Wedding date: 30/09/2023
Venue: Jimmy’s Farm, Ipswich

How did you guys meet, tell me all?

We met on Tinder!!! Classic 21st century love story. But we do have a friend in common, who vouched for each of us – so we had a bit more confidence we weren’t total weirdos…

How did you get engaged, is there a cool story?

For Kat’s 30th, Steve took Kat to Oxford for a long weekend, we went for a really nice tasting menu dinner. Steve waited until after the 5th (!) course just before dessert (and after as many glasses of wine) to ask the question. He had planned it all with the restaurant in advance and they played our favourite song (Piano Man by Billy Joel), and a waitress bought over a photo book which had all of our memories in, then at the end it said ‘will you marry me’ and Steve got down on one knee. Kat cried from start to finish.

What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many?

We had a recommendation from a family member to look at this venue, we knew we wanted something relaxed and fairly informal and when we saw Jimmy’s Farm we fell in love with it. We love visiting zoo’s together and so the fact that it is part of our wedding day is just amazing. We saw 4-5 other venues, some of which were instant no’s, we will never forget looking at one which just smelt like chips!

Tell me about your dress? Who was it designed by and was there a particular style you were drawn too?

My dress is a Lilian West, to be honest I didn’t have a clear idea of what I wanted,  however I did think I wanted my shoulders to be covered….but as you can see I ended up with the complete opposite! I tried on 6-7 dresses, but as soon as I had this one on I just got ‘that feeling’, and even though it’s totally out of my comfort zone – I love it.

What was the inspiration/theme/styling of your wedding?

Kat’s favourite season is Autumn and she always wanted to have an autumnal wedding, so we went with that theme. We are going for greens and lots of oranges and reds, autumnal leaves and pine cones. The lot!

What is your first song and why?

Our first dance is Better Together by Luke Combs. We both found and fell in love with Luke Combs as an artist at the same time, and this is one of his most romantic songs even mentioning getting married. We are actually going to see Luke Combs at the O2 a few days after we get back from our honeymoon, which will be so special and is perfect timing. We hope he plays our song!

What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?

Make in depth lists and spreadsheets which include ALL things to make/pay for/do, and do it as early as possible. Don’t be like Steve and live in a fantasy land of being finished when Kat has a thousand things left on her list
