Robyn and Jake’s intimate Christmas wedding at Winters Barns was simply stunning! Even with the virus lockdown still in full swing, and various restrictions in place, these guys went ahead with their fun and festive wedding, surrounded by their closest family and friends. There really is something special about these small 2020 weddings! Check it all out below.

How did you guys meet, tell me all?
We swiped right on Tinder to each other and messaged here and there for about a week before deciding to meet up on bank holiday Monday (27th August 2018). I remember opening the door to Jake and thinking phwoar haha! Jake drove us to crazy golf, which may have features such as a golf screen, and I’m pretty sure I took over the music 5 minutes in. We hit it off so well we didn’t want the date to end, so we ended up going for dinner at Wagamama’s and spending all evening together! We went on another 4 dates that same week and became official 10 days after meeting. We’ve been inseparable ever since.
How did you get engaged, is there a cool story?
We got engaged on Tuesday 8th October 2019. It was a pretty cold and rainy evening but we had planned to go on a date night. There was a ton of traffic delaying the evening and ruining Jakes plans for the proposal, but of course I was unaware of this! We finally made it to Pizza Hut after getting through the traffic and watched the ‘Joker’ in the cinema which we didn’t really enjoy haha. After this we got in the car to head back to Jakes, or so I thought. Jake wanted to go for a drive which we always used to do after dates but this time he seemed in a slightly odd mood. We pulled over near a field in Hoo to get out and have a walk. Jake went to the boot of the car and I followed as he said he was grabbing an extra jacket, but he was actually trying to secretly get my engagement ring back into the fancy box, he’d been carrying it around all night in a tiny ring box! So obviously he couldn’t make the box swap without me seeing and we went round to the front of the car where he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! Over the moon would be an understatement! There were many occasions coming up when Jake was thinking about proposing but he just couldn’t wait to pop the question which is the sweetest thing and it was always going to be special no matter how it happened.
What made you choose your wedding venue; did you look at many?
We fell in love with Winters Barns pretty much instantly, it was the first venue we went to visit, and any other venue just didn’t compare. The outside and the wedding breakfast barn are just so beautiful.
What was the inspiration/theme of your wedding?
We were both on the same page with wanting a very rustic, simple barn wedding from the moment we started looking at wedding ideas!
What is your first song and why?
Our first song is ‘Hearts don’t break around here’ by Ed Sheeran. It’s our first song because it’s one of those we would sing to each other every now and again, and it just became one of those songs that is yours.
What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
Just go for it! We planned our entire wedding in 2 months during a pandemic! Knowing it’s going to be small but intimate and exactly what we want. We just cannot wait to be married.
