Luxury and Chris had a stunning and traditional Holywell Estate wedding down in Hampshire. The day started at a gorgeous little church, where the elegant ceremony took place. After a quick 25-minute drive, we arrived at Holywell Estate and enjoyed such a fun wedding celebration, surrounded by the walled garden and grounds of the estate. Check it all out below.
First names: Chris & Luxury
Ages: Both 28
Wedding date: 18/06/22
Venue: St Mary’s Church, Warsash, Hampshire & Holywell Estate, Swanmore, Hampshire
How did you guys meet, tell me all?
We went to school together but never really knew each other until we met on a camping trip when we were 16, just after we sat our GCSE’s and have been together ever since!
How did you get engaged, is there a cool story?
We got engaged on Pacific Beach, San Diego, USA in September 2019 – I had earlier meant to propose overlooking the Pacific during the day at Cabrillo Point in San Diego (check the photos – stunning) but left the rings in a backpack in the car – a funny story now but mega embarassing at the time!
What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many?
Lux’s family have lived in Warsash for well over 60 years on the road that the church we’re getting married in is on – a great setting. We loved the idea of an outdoor reception and the walled garden at could visualise the reception at Holywell instantly, even if the first time we saw the place was on a dreary autumn day in 2020. That tells you a lot about the place I think.
Tell me about your dress? Who was it designed by and was there a particular style you were drawn too?
Designed by Rosa Clara, I can’t really say why I picked my dress, except that I tried many styles until I found one that I was comfortable with!
What was the inspiration/theme/styling of your wedding?
We wanted the environment to feel as outdoorsy and rustic as possible, so we have natural colours everywhere, we’ve used local suppliers for flowers to blend in with the environment, we’ve picked up furniture for free from Facebook Marketplace to have inside our tipis and have used hay bales from the stables at our reception venue for people to sit on, for example.
What is your first song and why?
Our first song is ‘Crowded Table’ by The Highwomen – we came across this song while away in the USA in 2019 and its lyrics sum up what we want from our marriage better than we could ever describe.
What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
Plan early, save early and most importantly – don’t sweat the small stuff – it’s your day and as long as people have somewhere to eat, somewhere to dance and somewhere to buy drinks (and someone to photograph it!) then you’re set.
