Crown Lodge wedding in Kent // Lotty and Jack

Check out Lotty and Jack’s stunning Crown Lodge wedding in Kent. This beautiful woodland wedding, complete with stunning views of the North Downs was just awesome! You don’t get much better than this.

First names: Lotty & Jack
Ages: 25
Wedding date: 5th July 2019
Venue: Crown Lodge, Wye, Kent.

How did you guys meet, tell me all?
We both went to secondary school together and we used to spend a lot of time chatting on MSN – secretly we both had a crush on each other at the time. When we were 18 we finally started to really get to know each other more. Jack worked at a sports arena and invited me to go roller skating on one of his shifts. He was supposed to be working, but we spent most of the time skating around holding hands and laughing like big kids. I always remember being so mesmerised by his blue eyes. We always think of this as our first date, because from then on we were inseparable. We are definitely soul mates!

How did you get engaged, is there a cool story?
Jack surprised me with a trip to Prague and he had planned for us to go on a hot air balloon flight over the City to propose. However, when we arrived in Prague the balloon company had unfortunately been winded off. We got to the hotel and Jack seemed quite nervous (little did I know he was having to change his original proposal plans) but luckily we were staying in a beautiful suite overlooking Charles Bridge, so Jack got down on one knee and popped the question! It was very romantic and we had the whole holiday to celebrate. We are now saving the hot air balloon flight for our first Wedding Anniversary!

What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many?
We originally wanted to get married abroad, so neither of us had any idea what style of wedding we wanted. We looked at various venues in Kent but really struggled to decide. We was adamant we didn’t want a venue with lots of rooms, as we have always envisioned our day to be where everyone is sharing memories together in one space so not a single moment can be missed by anyone. When we visited Crown Lodge we both instantly knew it was the one. Within seconds it felt so perfect and we could really see ourselves marrying there. It is a beautiful venue with spectacular views across the countryside. It is exactly what we had been looking for.

What was the inspiration/theme of your wedding?
We wanted a romantic and intimate feeling for our wedding day, so we incorporated the venue and its rural location into our theme. We have chosen a rustic yet slightly elegant style, with lots of wild flowers and candle lights. The colour scheme is lilac/lavender, which compliments the woodland backdrop, but also provides those summery vibes we love so much.

What is your first song and why?
Bob Marley – Is This Love. The lyrics really remind us of our time spent together when we first met. We wanted something upbeat and summery. We love a good dance together, and we practiced many times in our kitchen. This song just gives us a lot of joy and brings back great memories.

What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
Set a budget, then double it! It is easy to get carried away in the wedding happiness bubble, so do your research and plan well in advance. Time goes so quickly and it makes the whole experience less stressful if everything is booked and organised early on. Enjoy the build up together and remember it is your day as a couple, so try not to worry about pleasing everyone else all the time. Focus on yourselves and what you both like, it makes for a perfect day!
