Ria and Lee’s summer Cooling Castle Barn wedding in Kent was just perfect. This family orientated wedding, filled with the couples closest friends and family was just gorgeous. How did you guys meet, tell me all? We meet on Valentines Day in a pub in Bexleyheath at a cheesy valentines night.
How did you get engaged, is there a cool story? Lee proposed to me on my 30th Birthday he took me to my favourite restaurant at Rowhill Grange I was pregnant at the time with my second child Teddy. He proposed to me with pudding which had “will you marry me” written in chocolate. How could I refuse? It was an absolute shock as we had been together for 14 years so I thought he was never going to propose haha!
What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many? I had my heart set on Cooling Castle Barn I had looked at pictures on the internet and loved the rustic feel it had and after seeing it in the flesh I knew it was where I wanted to get married I loved the beautiful outdoor space and the beautiful beamed ceilings and exposed bricks in the Tithe Barn. We did look at others but nothing measured up to Cooling Castle Barn.
What was the inspiration/theme of your wedding? We knew we wanted beautiful natural surroundings and for it to be held outside in beautiful gardens and our wedding theme is quite romantic lots of florals and pastel colours.
What is your first song and why? Perfect By Ed Sheeran – Me and Lee absolutely loved the song when it was first released and loved the beautiful melody and simple honest lyrics. I remember us both looking at each other and saying this has to be our first dance!
What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding? I would definitely say start planning early we booked our wedding 2 years in advance and it hasn’t felt as stressful. Make sure you have a clear budget and stick to it! And give the groom his own responsibilities remember its his day too!
