This Christmas wedding at Winters Barns was super gorgeous, fun and incredibly emotional. Although this was somewhat a Christmas wedding, these guys made a decision early on – they didn’t want it a Christmas themed day. So lots of sparkle and glam was their inspiration and it helped make their big day look truly awesome. Although, I couldn’t help hum ‘It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…’ as I left the party in full swing. Check out Lauren and Adrian’s beautiful day below, two very inspirational people.

How did you guys meet, tell me all?
We met at a party around Christmas time 7 years ago. I was only at the party by chance through a friend of a friend and Ade and his friend gatecrashed on the way back from the pub with a crate of beer! I went up to him and asked him for one (I don’t even like beer!) and the rest is history. I was due to fly to Jamaica for Christmas the week later, but my flight was cancelled because of snow. That led us to having our first official date the day after Boxing Day that year.
How did you get engaged, is there a cool story?
Ade surprised me with a trip to Paris the day after Boxing Day 2015 (5 years since our first date). I had no idea he was going to propose as he played it so cool, we had a meal booked at the Eiffel Tower and he popped the question before we went in as he couldn’t wait any longer. Later, I found out that he almost did it a few hours before whilst walking along the river Seine, but a drunk man stood right by us having a wee which kind of ruined the moment! I didn’t notice as I was too busy taking photos of the scenery!
What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many?
We looked at a few but as soon as we walked into the Barns we knew it was “the one”. The grounds are stunning and the venue just has everything you need in one place, it’s is perfect for a wedding at any time of the year.
What was the inspiration/theme of your wedding?
Although we knew straight away we wanted a wedding around Christmas time, we didn’t want a Christmas theme. Just lots of glam and sparkle! For a personal touch, As we like to travel a lot, we named our tables after places we had been and had a gold foil map for our guests to sign as an alternative to a guest book.
What is your first song and why?
Ben Howard – Only Love. Ben Howard was one of the first gigs we went to together and we love the words of the song.
What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
We had a wedding website rather than traditional invitations. We thought it might be a massive risk at first, but it took the stress out of all of the wedding planning as the site does everything for you. Our guests found it so easy to rsvp, choose menu options, buy gifts and make song requests. There’s even a section where guests can upload photos after the wedding so we’re looking forward to seeing those!
