Music loving Gemma and Steve had a very cool and colorful, festival styled, Blake Hall wedding. This gorgeous wedding was quite spectacular, in amongst a day that should have been pouring with rain. However, the gods were with us, as guests enjoyed an incredible and unique wedding day, with the sun shining through. Check out their amazing day below!
First names: Gemma and Steve
Ages: 33 and 35
Wedding date: 8 June 2019
Venue: Blake Hall, Chipping Ongar, Essex
How did you guys meet, tell me all?
We’ve known each other since we were 5… we pretty much grew up together. Gem’s Dad even taught Steve how to play football (badly*)!! We went our separate ways at 18 and bumped into each other throughout the years. 5 years to the day of our wedding we ran into each other in a car park and after a bit of wooing (on Steve’s part), a few dates, and a few nights out at our local club (the brush) the rest, they say, is history.
How did you get engaged, is there a cool story?
After a bit of rugby and a few pints of Guinness Steve decided to pop the question in Dublin and promoted Gem to wife in training! And no…he hadn’t just drunk too much Guinness there was a ring and actual planning involved – he even got the ring size right! (….stealth photos of ring finger whilst snoozing is accurate- who knew? 😉 ) Pretty sure he popped the question just to score himself an engagement guitar though!!
What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many?
We looked at a few but the minute we saw Blake Hall we knew instantly it was the one for us and it even made our mum’s blubb! We wanted a blank canvas with lots of space outside to make the day our own and they’d handily just got a cancellation for our date – meant to be!
What was the inspiration/theme of your Blake hall wedding?
We didn’t really have a theme. We both love music and Steve is in a band so it was always going to include music and we both love a road trip so travel was going to feature too. Gem loves bright and colourful and lots of toot so we basically just went for throwing lots of things we loved together! Our favourite purchase has got to have been the route 66 pump which we found in an antiques store and will hang on to forever – it’s where we’re honeymooning!
What is your first song and why?
We’ll let you know – if we ever decide! Seriously who knew choosing one song was so bloody hard??
What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
Remember what it’s all about! It’s so easy to get caught up in wanting everything to be amazing but seriously if you end up married at the end of it…job done, right?
Also take the time to research and pick the right suppliers for you – they are the people who help to make your day awesome!
