Beth and Anton’s August wedding at East Quay Venue in Whitstable was one very cool wedding indeed! Set within one of Whitstable’s oldest buildings, this old Oyster shack played host to good food, good music and lots of funky dancing! This was such a fantastic wedding, for a really lovely couple! Check it all out below.
First names: Anton and Beth
Ages: Both 26
Wedding date: 17th August 2019
Venue: East Quay Venue, Whitstable
How did you guys meet, tell me all?
We met in our final year of school on a trip to Madrid. We went to different schools but they had organised a joint trip – we clicked straight away and we went on our first date soon after we got back!
How did you get engaged, is there a cool story?
We were out in London for my birthday and on the way to a surprise location Anton said we had some time to kill so asked if I wanted to look around the Japanese Gardens in Holland Park – I should have guessed there and then that something was going on; gardens are not normally his thing! We wandered round the busy gardens, when he started acting strangely and told me to hurry up because we were on a tight schedule – talk about a sudden U-turn! We walked a bit further into the park managing to escape the crowds when he suddenly stopped me, got down on one knee and popped the question! It was a complete surprise and I burst into tears straight away!
What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many?
We grew up in Kent so we knew that we wanted to get married somewhere in the county. East Quay was the first and only venue we visited, but as soon as we saw it, we knew instantly that it was perfect!
What was the inspiration/theme of your wedding?
We didn’t have a particular theme – the most important thing for us was to have a really fun, relaxed day with lots of good food, music and dancing!
What is your first song and why?
Our first song is a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s everywhere by Carrie Mac. When we first moved in together we used to disagree on what music to listen to in the house – Fleetwood Mac was one of the only albums that we both loved!
What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
Start your planning early so that you’re not too stressed as the big day approaches and remember that it’s your day, so don’t worry about what other people think!
