York Register Office wedding and Home Farm Reception

Grace and Sam’s York Register Office wedding combined an intimate city ceremony with a relaxed reception at their family farm in the North Yorkshire countryside. Their day began in York, with Grace getting ready at the Milner Hotel before a midday ceremony in the Bootham Suite at York Register Office. Afterwards, everyone travelled to New Grange Farm near Easingwold for an afternoon and evening surrounded by family, friends and open countryside.

BRIDAL PREPARATIONS AT THE MILNER HOTEL, YORK

Grace spent the morning getting ready at the Milner Hotel in York, a particularly meaningful location as it was where her parents had worked when they first met. It made the hotel much more than simply somewhere to prepare for the wedding, and we made time for a portrait of Grace’s parents together there before leaving for the ceremony.

Grace wore an elegant, modern wedding dress with a sculpted silhouette and carried a simple bouquet of white calla lilies, creating a beautifully understated look for their York Register Office wedding.

YORK REGISTER OFFICE WEDDING CEREMONY

Grace and Sam were married in the Bootham Suite at York Register Office in an intimate midday ceremony surrounded by their closest family and friends.

After the ceremony, everyone gathered in the gardens for confetti and family photographs before Grace and Sam had a little time together for portraits around York. The elegant streets and architecture made a great contrast to the countryside setting that awaited everyone later in the day.

A HOME FARM WEDDING RECEPTION IN NORTH YORKSHIRE

Following the ceremony in York, the wedding continued at New Grange Farm near Easingwold, Sam’s family farm and the perfect setting for a completely different second half of the day.

A marquee had been set up beside the farmhouse, surrounded by fields and the North Yorkshire countryside. Inside, the styling was light and understated, with white draping, elegant table settings and delicate floral arrangements creating a relaxed summer atmosphere.

Grace and Sam were joined by their two young children, Alba and Beau, making the family setting of the reception even more personal.

A RELAXED YORKSHIRE FARM WEDDING

One of the loveliest things about Grace and Sam’s editorial wedding was the contrast between the two settings. The day moved from the elegance of York and their intimate Register Office ceremony to a relaxed afternoon at home on the farm.

The reception gave everyone the chance to enjoy the countryside, with drinks outside the marquee before dinner, speeches and the evening reception. Aerial photographs showed just how wonderfully secluded the setting was, with the marquee sitting alongside the farmhouse and fields stretching into the distance.

Later, Grace and Sam cut their wedding cake before the evening continued with their family and friends.

YORK REGISTER OFFICE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Grace and Sam’s wedding was a beautiful example of how an intimate York Register Office wedding can be combined with a completely personal reception at home. From getting ready in a hotel with a special connection to Grace’s family, to their ceremony in York and a marquee reception on Sam’s family farm, every part of the day felt connected to them.
