How did you guys meet, tell me all? We both went to Portsmouth University, but never actually met there. We met through Claire’s best friend at a number of BBQs over the years, and then bumped into each other one evening when out with separate friends – and the rest is history! We actually have some pictures from University where Adam is in the background which is a bit spooky.
How did you get engaged, is there a cool story? Our favourite place is the Lake District, so on one of our holidays there, we drove to my favourite spot – Wrynose Pass. We brought a picnic blanket and were going to watch the sunset. I was sitting on the blanket, and I suddenly turn around and Adam was down on one knee. It was the biggest, and best surprise ever! We then spent the week in the Lakes, and came home to spend the night at the Shard to celebrate – only to turn up at the Shard and have our room upgraded to a suite! It was the first (and the last) time we’ve ever had a butler and a guest bathroom!
What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many? We knew the style we wanted and looked around a couple. We instantly fell in love with Winters Barns and it just felt right. We felt it provided the whole package, and is just in such a wonderful setting.
What was the inspiration/theme of your wedding? The Lake District / Rustic Barn!
What is your first song and why? Together in Electric Dreams – Philip Oakey/The Human League. We were adamant we didn’t want to have a slow, romantic song for our first dance as it just isn’t who we are. We both absolutely love the song, and it is just something fun and good to dance to!
What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding? Our number one tip is to remember that the day is about you two as a couple. Don’t let other people’s views determine anything, it’s your day as a couple, and it should be exactly how you both want it.
