The Laughter – Why I Love This Picture

In this series of blog posts, I pick one of my favourite images from the archives and let you know why I love it! I’ve chosen some amazing shots over the years, but this week, I’ve chosen one of my all-time favourites! The laughter – Why I love this picture!

The Laughter - Why I Love This Picture

After a gorgeous winter wedding, we eventually ended up as you do, at the wedding speeches. The brides dad and groom had already had their turn and had delivered some hilarious and poignant speeches.

It was now the turn of the best man and he certainly delivered. He had the room in raptures after some brilliantly funny stories.

I love this picture ‘The laughter’, as its shows so much emotion. This image was captured just as the joke broke out and caught the moment the groom burst into fits of laughter.

The image incapsulates what the speeches were like in one simple photograph.

I feel the black and white also helps with the documentary feel of this image which has not been directed or manipulated in any way. The shot was taken in the shadows, with the subjects un-aware it has even been taken. This creates the best images.

This photograph was taken at The Grasshopper InnWesterham, Kent. To see more from this wedding, check out Grasshopper Inn Wedding With Kelly And Dave.

What does this image say to you? How does it make you feel? If you could change it in any way, how would you? Let me know all your thoughts in the comments below.

The photograph was shot using a Nikon D700 with a 24-70mm f2.8 lens. The settings on the camera were ISO 200, aperture f2.8 and shutter speed 1/200.
