During a wedding reception, there are smiles, laughter, tears and a whole host of emotions. It’s during this time I love to photograph weddings. Its a time when real emotion can be captured onto film.
Let’s look at why I love this picture…
Some pictures have it, that something extra, that something that makes you smile, giggle, warm inside… This picture has just that! I dare you not to raise a smile looking at this image! It can’t be done.
Pictures are here to tell a story. To impose emotion upon those who were not there. This for me not only tells a story, but leaves you with questions. What was he saying? What created such a great reaction?
This picture also has layers. Your eye initially centres on the groom and his emotion to what is being said. BUT, did you notice the little boy? The son of the newly weds is also in a state of hysterics!
As a natural documentary wedding photographer and during wedding speeches at the reception, you get a whole host of just this. You get raw emotion, that is not lost when the camera comes out. A camera can often create fake, posed smiles. This certainly is not that.
I love this image. I love the emotion in this picture. I love the pure happiness, the joy of the occasion and the questions it raises. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
