Romantic Wedding at The Mercure Great Danes Hotel In Maidstone

First names: Emma and Chris
Ages: 28 and 31
Wedding date: 27th of June 2015
Wedding budget: £12,000
Venue: Mercure Great Danes hotel, Maidstone.

How did you guys meet? We met in 2007 on a Blind date. We were set up by my cousin and her then boyfriend (Chris’s friend).

How did you get engaged? We had been together for 4 and half years before we got Engaged. Then on Christmas day 2011, Chris proposed! 🙂

What made you choose your wedding venue? We started looking at venues at around the end of 2013. After some time looking and searching around, trying to find a place with beautiful grounds and with our heart firmly in Kent, we finally chose the beautiful Mercure Great Danes Hotel in Maidstone in February 2014. The staff and our wedding coordinator of the hotel were so lovely and most informative out of all the venues we visited, which certainly helped our decision. On the wedding day itself we were so lucky with the weather as it turned into one of the hottest days in June! Choosing a venue with beautiful grounds was definitely the right decision and it helped create a fantastic day for us both.

What was the inspiration for your wedding? Summer, romance and personal to ourselves and friends and family so it would be a day for us and them to remember.

What did you enjoy most about your wedding? Everything, from getting ready to our first dance as Mr and Mrs. All our friends and family being there and some of them meeting for the first time.
Chris was very Nervous but enjoyed every part of our day from seeing me for first time to walking down the aisle, seeing our room set up for the wedding meal, speeches and becoming part of another family.

Any fun or significant stories from the day? The most fun part for me was getting ready and all the build up as the nerves where slowly going and excitement kicked in. A memorable part for the both of us was just after all the speeches – we gave out the presents to our wedding party. One of the ushers was my uncle Mark who has down syndrome. When Chris gave Mark his present he decided he wanted to do his own thank you speech! He mentioned my late nan (his mum) and just had the whole room in tears and laughter! He stole our limelight (in a good way) and its a very emotional moment we will never forget.

From our Engagement shot to our wedding Ross was great, made us feel at ease infront of the camera. Could not have asked for a better photographer. We love all our photos that we now have to treasure forever.

– Emma and Chris

What was your first song and why? Westlife – flying without wings. This is due to it being my all time favourite song! I fell in love it the first moment I heard it back when I was a teenager. I dreamt of my wedding back then and knew this would be the one.

What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding? Take the planning step by step so you don’t miss anything, try to decide on things together and when it comes to the day just take a few moments to take it all in and enjoy yourselves.
