Sharon and James had a traditional and very elegant wedding at Chilston Park Hotel. They wanted very little fuss and the thought of being surrounded by all their loved ones was a key part of the day for them. From their engagement in one of the most romantic cities in the world, to their beautiful wedding in the heart of Kent, this is their story!
First names: James and Sharon
Ages: Both 30 years old
Wedding date: 5th June 2015
Venue: Chilston Park Hotel, Lenham, Kent
How did you guys meet?
We met through work. We’d been together two and half years before we got engaged.
How did you get engaged?
James took me to Paris for a surprise weekend away and after a boat ride on the River Seine and dinner up the Eiffel Tower and then, James got down on one knee. Very romantic!
What made you choose your wedding venue?
We fell in love with the grandeur and romance of the hotel. It had a beautiful Orangery for the ceremony and stunning grounds for photographs. The staff could not have been more helpful and they made us feel like we were the only couple to ever get married there.

What was the inspiration for your wedding?
We wanted a traditional Wedding with very little fuss. The venue itself inspired a lot of our choices, in regards to outfits, flowers and entertainment.
.
What did you enjoy most about your wedding?
Being surround by everyone we love. We had beautiful weather so our guests were able to enjoy pimms and canapés on the lawns with our string quartet playing.
Any fun or significant stories from the day?
The Groom’s grandparents travelled down from the Lake District to be at our Wedding, only to discover they had left their outfits at home! They had to make an emergency trip to Bluewater shopping centre to buy new suits on the morning of the wedding.
“Ross was highly professional throughout our Wedding and he made us feel totally at ease. This helped us to have natural, fun and relaxed photographs which we will treasure forever. Ross gave great advice, drawing on his knowledge and experience, but also listened to our ideas and helped us optimise them. We would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone and a couple of friends have already asked for his number, having seen our photographs.”

What was your first song and why?
Our first dance was to “Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton. We both love the song and the words seem to reflect us as a couple.
What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
The best advice we were given was not to panic if things start to go wrong because no one knows what’s supposed to happen. If the band start playing the wrong song or the wrong wine is served, no one knows there’s a problem unless you say.
Luckily for us, nothing major went wrong at all. We had a wonderful day and have gorgeous wedding photos to treasure forever.
