Lauren and Rich were married in the heart of Kent in amongst the very historic and stunning backdrop of High Rocks in Kent. Even with that very British aspect of ‘rain’, it didn’t stop this amazing couple from having a lot of fun and sharing their big day with family and friends. From a very spontaneous proposal to a fun and relaxed wedding, Lauren and Rich had a very beautiful High Rocks wedding.
Wedding date: 16th August 2015
Wedding budget: £13k
Venue: High Rocks, Tunbridge Wells
How did you guys meet?
At Lauren’s sister’s birthday party (we did go to the same school but hadn’t met before).
How did you get engaged?
While looking back through photos of our relationship for a wall collage one morning, Rich proposed spontaneously.
What made you choose your wedding venue?
We loved the dramatic setting of the Rocks and the rustic feel of the barn (dark wooden beams).
What was the inspiration for your wedding?
Didn’t really have a particular inspiration, just wanted a relaxed and fun day.
What did you enjoy most about your wedding?
The whole day! In particular we loved having everyone dancing to the band to some of our favourite songs. We also loved the speeches and getting some time together when we went off for photographs around the Rocks. The personal wedding ceremony performed by Rich’s step-dad was amazing as well.
Any fun or significant stories from the day?
There were so many stories but here are a couple: Rich had his sister bring a letter and surprise present from him for me to open in the morning which was really nice – and we now have a trip to Rome to look forward to in February! We also realised on the day that the little things don’t matter when you’re having an amazing time – for example, Rich forgot all the wedding sweets which someone had to go back for during the reception and we also couldn’t perform the first dance we’d rehearsed due to my dress length, but on the day you don’t get stressed about things like that because you’re too busy enjoying everything else!
What was your first song and why?
Our first dance was to Jason Mraz ‘I’m Yours’, which was the first song we ever danced to together.
“We used Ross as our wedding photographer in August 2015 and he was incredible. The photos are amazing and he captured so many perfect moments. We love all the natural shots and we’ve had so many compliments about how great the pictures are. He put everyone at ease on the day and was really discreet. We can’t recommend him highly enough. Thanks so much for being part of our day Ross”

What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
Make sure you do what will make you happy on the day and not get too caught up in trying to please everyone. Also, as so many people say, the day goes so quickly so try to make sure you enjoy every minute.
What is your favourite picture and why?
We love all the photos but we particularly love the photo of us in front of the full rocks with the dramatic back-lighting – you can see the huge scale of them.
