Port Lympne Safari Wedding // Nicole and Carl

Port Lympne safari wedding
Nicole and Carl’s Port Lympne safari wedding was certainly a wedding to remember! I’m sure guests will be talking about it for some time! It’s not often you get to see rhino’s and zebra’s during the big day, but we did just that on our private wedding safari! Port Lympne is certainly a venue with a difference. It gave quirky Nicole and Carl the cool and alternative wedding they truly deserved. Check it out below.

First names: Carl and Nicole
Ages: Both 26
Wedding date: 08/07/17
Venue: Port Lympne Wild life Reserve

How did you guys meet, tell me all?
Nicole fancied Carl at school but the time just wasn’t right (even though we lived two roads away from each other). We got talking again a few years after when we started going to the same gigs and parties. After a few animal related days out to the zoo, aquariums etc. (hence the wedding venue) the rest was history!

How did you get engaged, is there a cool story?
We were on holiday in Italy and Nicole had no idea that Carl was planning to pop the question. So much so that after a few drinks she started asking when he was finally going to propose. After being a bit mean and saying he thought it would be fine to wait another year or so, Carl proposed on the balcony that night. Nicole was so shocked that her first words were F-OFF!… followed quickly by Yes of course!

What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many?
We love animals and Port Lympne was the only place we looked at. The venue is absolutely beautiful and the fact that all the guests get to go on a safari sealed the deal.

What was the inspiration/theme of your wedding?
We’re not very traditional (read: a bit weird) so we’ve gone for something bright and fun with some quicky bits thrown in.

What is your first song and why?
Our first song was Stand by Me by Imagine Dragons. It’s a song we both love and the cover is great. Plus there’s been a lot of times we’ve really been there for each other so the sentiment is perfect. There was a big twist at the end too! The father and daughter dance was a little exciting and a little special. (Ross’ edit – It was bloody awesome!!)

What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
Keep it chilled. The planning is supposed to be fun too and it doesn’t have to be stressful. If you’re not bothered about certain details (like the fold of the napkins – yes that’s a thing!) then don’t feel like you have to worry about them. Also, do it your way; it’s your day after all.
