Lucy and Matt had such a beautiful Mount Ephraim Gardens wedding. With the day beginning at the gorgeous St Mary’s Church in Teynham, we all moved onto the stunning Mount Ephraim Gardens, whereby this amazing couple and their lovely family and friends enjoyed an amazing wedding day. From the traditional ceremony in the heart of Kent, to the crazy dancing in the evening, this was such a fun day.
First names: Lucy and Matt
Ages: 29 / 36
Wedding date: 9th July 2016
Venues: St Mary’s Church, Teynham and Mount Ephraim Gardens in Kent
How did you guys meet, tell me all?
We first met at a mutual friends party, where we had seen each other but not really had an opportunity to talk. The next time we met was at a film night at Matt’s house where I fell fast asleep on his couch (embarrassing!). This didn’t put him off and we started chatting after that. The situation was complicated with Matt’s two sons from a previous relationship being young – things took time to develop, but we moved in together on bonfire night just under 10 years ago.
How did you get engaged, is there a cool story?
Matt proposed at the Hempstead House Hotel during a short break. We enjoyed a nice meal and spa day to finish off the occasion. The ring that Matt bought me was too big so we headed back to the shop to have it adjusted, however when we got there I changed my mind on the ring and ended up with a completely different style. There was £200 change and Matt bought a new watch! He always reminds me that I never like anything he buys me, I then remind him of the watch he gained out of that.
What made you choose your wedding venue, did you look at many?
We knew from the get go that we would marry in church and as we lived in Teynham for many years it seemed the right choice to get married there. For the reception venue we wanted a country house or a venue with picturesque gardens. We looked at lots of different venues, but we fell in love with Mount Ephraim Gardens before even getting to the house. The gardens are amazing and we knew we had found the ideal location.
What was the inspiration/theme of your wedding?
The theme for the wedding was floral, with the bridesmaid’s dresses being a pale floral pattern and table names all reflecting a flower. The reason I picked this theme is to remember my Nan whose name is Myrtle (the flower – and also the name of the top table), unfortunately she passed away a few years ago and I know how much she would have loved being part of the wedding.
What was your first song and why?
Our first song is Hold On by Michael Buble. We heard it when we first got together and it has been ‘our’ song ever since. So when it came to deciding a song there was no other contenders! The words mean a lot to us and it always jerks a tear for me!
What would be your number one tip to other couples planning their wedding?
Prepare to be financially demolished! Ha Ha! Seriously I would say, don’t stress enjoy the preparations and go at your own pace with everything.
